In Korea, there are two main transportation cards: T-money and Climate Card.
💳 T-money is a universal card that works all over South Korea. You can use it in Seoul, other cities, and even in some stores. You can add money to it at machines and use it whenever you want.
⏳ Climate Card is a time-based card only for Seoul. You buy it for a set number of days (1, 2, 5, 7, or 30) and get unlimited rides on Seoul’s subway and buses during that time. It doesn’t work outside Seoul.
Where to buy T-money:
-
At Incheon Airport (machines, GS25, 7-Eleven)
-
At subway stations (machines, kiosks)
-
In convenience stores like GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, Emart24
-
Price: about 2,500 ₩ to 4,000 ₩, depending on where and which card you choose.
Where to buy Climate Card:
-
Convenience stores near subway stations (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, Emart24)
-
Transport service centers and metro centers (lines 1–8) in Seoul
-
Price: about 3,000 ₩
Which one to pick?
-
If you plan to travel to many cities in Korea, get T-money.
-
If you’ll stay mostly in Seoul and use public transport a lot, the Climate Card is better value.
